This is a repeat buy for me. I find this brand by Spectrum essential is a very good one. It is organic which is what I am looking for. I take this mainly for constipation but also for the omega 3’s in plant form.
When using this flax seed I find I stay regular. If you are having trouble with constipation this is a very good and natural way to remedy it. I add it to any food I am eating cooked or raw. I add it to salads and into smoothies as well. Two tablespoons a day is the amount that I use.
You can also add this to pastry recipes before baking like cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, you name it. It will also replace eggs in a recipe. You can google ‘flaxseed, egg replacement’ to find the correct ratio for your recipe or use mine. For each egg, combine 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed (measure after grinding) with 3 tablespoons of water. Stir well, and place in the fridge to set for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the result should be a sticky egg-like substitute and it’s ready to go!
If you are in the market for a quality flaxseed that is organic you cannot beat this one form Spectrum Essentials. I have used to for a long time with great results health wise and in baking recipes.

We have used organic ground flax seed for over a year now and can tell a difference in our overall health. I use it in cakes, cookies, meatloaf, our hot oatmeal and cream of wheat. Anywhere, really, where I can tuck a few tablespoon fulls without affecting the flavor or textures of my dishes. This is an organic way to keep our digestive systems working smoothly without using any harsh stimulants I’ve always read that Americans don’t get half enough fiber in their diets and a lot of our ailments could be wiped out if more fiber were added to our to our every day eating. It’s rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and has 3 grams of fiber per serving.
If you think that the whole flax seed is better for you then think again. It passes through the human system whole without digesting. That’s why the ground flax seed is the better way to go. And since I’m eating flax seed, I decided that organic is the only way to go. Spectrum Essential Organic is always fresh and good quality.
Making Time for Memories –
I purchased this because it was an ingredient in a recipe for no bake lactation cookies I was making. The ground flaxseed is fine enough that it works perfectly in a “no bake” recipe. The nutty bit of flavoring from the flaxseed adds a bit of a nutty taste to the cookies, and the end result of the recipe is perfect.
Not to mention, flaxseed also helps with lactation. I pulled this from an online article basically discussing super foods for a nursing mother – “Flaxseed contains phytoestrogens, a plant-based compound that can mildly mimic estrogen. Phytoestrogens are believed to have potential in helping to protect against a variety of health disorders. In addition to flaxseed’s lactogenic properties, they are great source of fiber, another important need for nursing mothers.”
Along with the flaxseed, the recipe I used for the lactation cookies calls for brewer’s yeast and oatmeal, which are also super foods for a nursing mother. Since starting to eat the cookies I made 2-3 days ago, I’ve noticed an increase in my milk supply. My baby seems to get full faster and I can hear her swallowing more often than she used to. This leads me to believe she’s get more instant streams of breast milk rather than a few drops here and there.

This was the only thing I added to my food and my blood pressure went from high to normal in 2 weeks. I’m just a guy who did some research because my heart issues. No other changes, I use about 1-2 teaspoons mixed into my food maybe 2 sometimes three times a week. No supplements, no meds except my bayer baby aspirin, this was the only change. I got this for its good fats.

Perfect to regulate digestion. I currently use it mixed with granola in low fat yogurt (didn’t work well for Greek yogurt in my opinion) and when mixed with the granola, it tastes like a fairly light nutty flavor. It’s not too over powering.
I refrigerated immediately after opening, and it is still fine (originally purchased in the spring)
Also, it’s grounded up enough that it isn’t too much of a powder, just the right consistency
